Mary Kay Rayens, PhD

Mary Kay Rayens received her undergraduate degree in biology in 1986 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her master's degree in statistics in 1989 from UK. She completed her doctorate in statistics, also at UK, in 1993. The focus of her dissertation research was the detection of clusters of disease over time. Dr. Rayens is a biostatistician with more than a decade of experience in designing and planning complex longitudinal intervention studies. She has served as a co-investigator on university and extramurally funded projects involving issues such as tobacco control, drug prevention, depression in college women and single mothers, satisfaction with mental health services, farm safety, and asthma management in children. In addition to the data management and analysis aspects of collaborations, her interests include tobacco policy development, tobacco use and cessation, secondhand smoke exposure, asthma interventions for children and adolescents, women's mental health, farm safety, and the work and health of older farmers. She teaches biostatistics in the graduate program.
